Revolver is definately in my top three. Unfortunately it was overlooked as one of rocks all-time greatest lps for many many years. It was really more influentual than "Sgt. Pepper" and was the one the really set up the summer of love. "Sgt Pepper" was copied by everybody for its running groove and 'concept' but the music on "Revolver" was in reality what everybody was copying.
The only filler the Beatles ever did was "Long Winding Road" and "Maxwells Silver Hammer", both of which Paul seemed to think were as important as Beethovans "Razumovsky" string quartets.
I have come to terms with electronic gizmos and duplications. For the most part Im a purist, but why not use everything available? The Beatles did. They used the mellotron extensively and moog on "Abbey Road". The Monkees were the first group to use synth on a pop record. Not to mention the artist doesnt have to pay 50 outside stiff shirt musicians.
