HEY ALL..with bill mag pitch day lurking soon, its time for me to book the reservation for the bill mag social that happens each year. I would like to call shoeless joes (oshawa) by next wednesday/thursday to save us a good area...bill mag social will be from noon-ish - finish...if u all could please RSVP your attendance or non attendance on the board it would be appreciated so I can give them an approximate number

Now with the contents page in production after a solid comprehensive was built during last class, our bill mag production comes to a close. To finalize here is an update to timelines and specific duties for each. I suggest reading it all so u know whos doing what.

FOR DESIGNERS:

Still out there but almost complete is:

Page 6/7 (due wednesday nov 17) 6pm (L220 bucket) Please attach as usual a cover page to the colour spread. Additionally attach a b/w version of page 8/9....and follow proper work flow....coordinator coordinates and publisher approves before submission

Page 10/11 (our time) due this coming sunday november 21 midinte...PREMARK SESSION FOR PAGE 10/11 will be this thursday nov 18 (you may want to shoot for this date so your publisher can visit me during chronicle production) I will also be availble for pdf msn online premarking on saturday

cover/contents page - due Friday November 26. I ASK THAT YOU DO several premark sessions with me during this development.

With that designers your Bill Mag experience is over. I thank you for a wonderful term and some dynamite looking books.


FOR COORDINATORS:

I’m hoping that alterations to spreads and ads has been on ongoing event. In the case that it hasnt, it now falls to you to do any adjustments discussed or outlined on assignment coversheets or marking/comment sheets. Adjustments need to be done prior to the development of the book and board for presentation purposes. Only adjusted error free material will be judged or presented.

Book and Board due wednesday December 1 6pm


That gives you the monday/tuesday to adjust any of the later returned material such as the cover and contents coming in that prior weekend and returned as soon as possible to you.

INCLASS Nov22/23 will be the instuction given to coordinators to prepare the book/board as well the board will be distributed that day only


COORDINATORS/PUBLISHERS:

On the bill server you will notice 3 folders....BEST BILL COVER....BEST ANIMATION AD...BEST CHRONICLE HIGHLIGHT AD

you are to prepare and deposit a clean, error free/corrected/adjusted PDF file for each. PLEASE LABEL EACH WITH YOUR PUBLISHING UNIT NAME. Please double check by opening the file in acrobat that your creation of the PDF file worked proper. These files will be used to prepare the judging material.

Deadline for clean ups and placement into appropriate folders is Tuesday November 30 6pm


PUBLISHER:

Pitch day- you are to prepare a 7 minute pitch to deliver to full class as well as guests. The objective of the pitch is not to disucss the new life long bet friends you made during bill mag development ; nor the new life long enemies either. Its not to re-hash the OUR TIME STORY. Its not a design presentation where u talk balance strategy or visual paths...you are to explain your decision to select the editorial emotion developed and how it reflects and relates to the advertising program.

Props or materials...what u will have is the book/board at your disposal....your full team will be up front with you to assist...but all pitch delivery will be by publisher You may develop a powerpoint presentation or any additional support material needed. POWERPOINT OR ANY DIGITAL PRESENTATIONS MUST BE BURNT TO CD ( as I taught you last year) AND TRANSFERED TO MY LAPTOP NO LATER THAN TUESDAY DECEMBER 7 noon....My laptop will be the only laptop used during presentations ( I havent the time waiting for each laptop hook up)....might be a good idea to wait and transfer and test with me your presentation...I will not be responsible for presentations burnt and left sitting on my desk ...a) gone missing b) not loading c) not loading properly

Now that the specs for the COVER of bill mag have been issued by john starling we can now discuss contents of the cover for completion. Please note: any photo ops of bill need to be booked thru him a day in advance (just a heads up-a majojority of cover shots last year were shot in the studio with proper backdrops and lighting) Some past cover attempts area available by copying/pasting this link into a web browser

YOUR COVER MUST INCLUDE:

-volume 3 2005

-durham college logo incorporated with your BILL MAGAZINE typography (or close in proximatey to it)

-”sell lines.” The sentences on the cover are called sell lines to entice purchase of consumer magazines...your sell lines are to be written by you and should cover each standing head (I suggest writing your sell lines prior to thumbnail/comp development)

-a 3.5“ x 1.25” knock out section to the bottom-right for mailing label placement (this should appear on your thumbnail/comp for John Starling as it is an element that must be planned in...remember thumbnail/comps in advertising are deep-dark-detailed (create your own miniature containers i.e frog ad assignment)

-thumbnail/comps will be forwarded to me by John


REMEMBER...its up to the publisher to book time for preview sessions....even at thumbnail/comprhensive stage if you wish

final due date is posted on message board under CAN U SAY CRUNCH

the cover is catagorized on awards day as BEST BILL COVER and will hang in WALL OF FAME display
