Steve,
I have done several first day bow kills here in michigan which is Oct 1st. They have all been bucks so I did use a y-cut to remove the hide. What I did was put a groove down the back of the form where the incesion will be and then fill the groove with clay. After I was done sewing I tapped my stiches into the grove with a hammer. Used some hair gel smoothed it out and carded it. Can't see a thing when it dried. I used a baseball stich and stayed closer then normal like 1/4in between each stich and make sure there is no hair in the stich before you tighten it down.
With all that being said not sure if this will work so you might want a second opioion. I don't see why you can't tube skin it like you would with a bear. That would leave no sewing at all. There are no antlers to cut around so logic says this should work. If you can get it off the skull this way it should go back on a form. As we all know sometimes logic can trick us. It may take a while to skin it out ,but I would try this first you can always make a stright cut down the back later if you can't get the head loose.
Post something back if this works or not. It isn't often most of us mount a doe but when the time comes to already know a easier way is always a big help.
Later
Ozzy
