24 from freshman PG Jason Holsinger wasn't enough as Evansville falls to 1-1, losing at Loyola (Chi) 99-86. Loyola jumped on the Aces early and often, and the game was basically over midway through the first half. Loyola could not miss, hitting 9 of their first 10 shots, while the Aces made 1 of their first 10. Loyola built their lead to 25 in the first half before a few good minutes cut the margin to 17 at half. Loyola came the second half much like the first and built the lead to 30 before an Aces charge cut it to the final margin. Loyola never called off the dogs, leaving starters in till the end, so credit the Aces for continuing to play and getting the final score to a respectable margin. The good news is the Aces are averaging 88.5 ppg thru two games. The bad news is that they are giving up 90. The defense must tighten up for the season to be a success. Matt Webster had only one FG but managed 13-14 FT's. He and Bradley Strickland had eight rebounds apiece. Stickland also chipped in with 12 points, but was only two of eight from the foul line. Along with his 24 points, Holsinger had seven assists, but he had six turnovers as well. The Aces return to action on Saturday November 26 when they play Marshall in West Virginia.
