I believe that owning a little shop like yours has to be a labour of love. It's takes total commitment, sheer hard graft and not a little heartache, but oh the the thrill of seeing somebody's face when they find something they love in your store. As a former shop owner the only advice I have is to stick rigidly to buying only whay you love. Don't try to cater for the masses, be as authentic as you can in your buying and your store will refect who you are and have an atmosphere your customers will cherish.
Have you read SEED: The feminine way to do business, by Lynne Franks? She can be a bit new age, but her manifesto for doing business is wonderfully inspiring and something I think about every day. Visit seedfusion.com for more information.
