Subject: Painful closed foreskin

My son is 6 years old and has a very small hole in his foreskin and when he urinates its painful. We are going to get him circumcised and the doctor said he is going to use a general anaesthetic. This concerns me because he is asthmatic and very small for his age. Is the general aneasthetic necessary, what are the options?

He had a previous procedure where the doctor used a cream and then incerted some instrument into his foreskin and just kind of ripped it apart. This was very painful and traumatic for my son and within about 2 months the foreskin had returned to its original condition.

Could anyone please offer me some advice on his condition, treatment and pain prevention/anaesthetic????? Please!!!!
