Subject: Movie Monday! What did you see this weekend? I saw a couple

of movies, both streamed. The first one was The Menu, with Ralph Fiennes, Anya Taylor-Joy an underused Judith Light and John Leguizamo among others. It was Ralph Fiennes at his oddball best. The story was crazy and weird, but entertaining as the chef of an exclusive island restaurant goes off the rails and has it in for his pompous guests.
The second film was one I had wanted to see for awhile, Elvis, written and directed by the exceptional Baz Luhrmann. I am not an Elvis fan, he was more of my parent's era. But this film and the lead actor, Austin Butler, really won me over. It's focus is on the relationship between Elvis and Colonel Tom Parker (played by Tom Hanks) and how the artist was so conned by a con man. It's definitely worthy of all the nominations and acclaim.

The Pale Blue Eye, starring Christian Bale. The story is a fictionalized account of a double murder taking place at West Point in 1830. Bale stars as a retired detective who works with a young student cadet, Edgar Allen Poe, who's macabre personality sets a creepy tone. Great twist at the end, really liked this one.
The Menu sounds really good, I like all those actors. Re Elvis, I'm too young also to be an Elvis fan, but that movie is great. I've rewatched it twice, just for the music.
