Subject: Movie Monday! What did you see this weekend? I had two

long flights to and from of 12 hours each. On the way to Madrid, I watched two:
1. The Northman with Alexander SkarsgÄrd, Nicole Kidman, Anya Taylor-Joy, Willem Dafoe and Ethan Hawke. Can't believe any of them signed up for this awful movie. My other half was watching it too and we kept looking at each in shock at how bad it was.
2. The Lost City with Channing Tatum, Sandra Bullock and Brad Pitt. Uh, Brad looked great, but it was at best, sort of cute.

On the way home I watched three:
1. The King's Man with Ralph Fiennes, Djimon Hounsou, Matthew Goode, Charles Dance and more. It was really good. It's based on a comic book so it's got a stylized feel to it, so it's quite pretty and pretty violent.
2. Ghostbusters: Afterlife with Paul Rudd and the surviving members of the original. It was quite moving and done as sort of a tribute to Harold Ramis (who I loved) so it was kind of a tearjerker as well as the usual funny antics.
3. The Lost Daughter with Olivia Colman, Ed Harris and Dakota Johnson. It was interesting, but the ending had me confused.

Madrid is such a great city to be a tourist, so much to see and do. Did the trip go smoothly? Were there any Covid restrictions, tests or req proof? We are planning a trip to Europe in Sept so I'd love to know what to expect.
I'm so glad I did not pay to see Northman. I'll wait for it to be free to watch, lol. I liked The Lost Daughter, but found it kinda creepy.

restrictions, they vary from country to country and change all the time. Our cruise required proof of vaccination, Spain required proof as well. I don't think we had to do anything for Portugal other than fill out a form with our travel info. in case we needed to be contacted regarding exposure. Masks were only required on flights and other public transportation. When we went to France last year, it was a bit more restrictive of course being that it was a year ago. Spain and Portugal both have very high vaccination rates, some of the highest in Europe.

We are not doing a cruise, which I'm happy about because 2 of my relatives came back from cruises with Covid, tho all are ok now.

[> [> [> [> Yeah, I would not have done a large cruise ship for that reason. To cruise the Douro, it has to be a small ship as it is very winding. We stayed -- LAwoman, 10:33:33 07/25/22 Mon [1]

a couple of nights in Lisbon and at the end of the cruise, a couple of nights in Santiago de Compostela in Spain. Both Portugal and Spain were having a bad heat wave and fires, so we felt right at home.

lot hurdles to jump even for just a connecting flight. So I hope it's not as restrictive now if that's the direction you are headed.

but I have to say that Heathrow, the 2-3 times I have been thru, it's been confusing and delay-prone. If only those big hubs could be like Long Beach or OC airport.

[> [> [> [> [> [> Funny you mention Heathrow. I came back from the UK -- AllyG, 14:18:00 08/01/22 Mon [1]

on July 5th and Heathrow was chaos. 45 minutes to drop my bag (line had about 10 people in it in about 4 "families") and then an hour plus to go through security in the Virgin Atlantic Upper Class wing (sometimes medallion status helps) where it should take about 10-15 minutes.

And that is probably where I got COVID. Luckily it wasn't a serious case and I am fine now.

[> [> [> [> [> [> [> Oh, wow. I was sure I'd get COVID on the tram at the Madrid airport where there -- LAwoman, 23:31:08 08/01/22 Mon [1]

was no limit on the number of people crammed in there. We were lucky that we didn't get it. The rest of the airport is great, but the tram between gates is crazy. And we had to use it coming and going. Our experience at Heathrow last September was not good. I'd avoid it any way I could in the future.
