i finally had time to read thru paul's whole post :o)
quick comments: Kelvin = 6th grader, shakur not shaquor haha
i'm marie and im the head director this year......i joined champs the first quarter of my first year, back in fall 2001
it was one of those orientation fair things and one of the old directors keith was sitting at this table all alone with these great pictures of the kids
im pretty quiet, esp around people i dont know, so i just took a flier and kept walking, then went to an orientation, then ive barely missed any sites since then...
my first year i started in the k-2 room and worked with marco, malcolm and devin....theyve all grown so much since then, its crazy to think back that far, all three of them used to be very shy
second year i was the finance director and i moved to the 5/6 room and started working with 4th graders shaquil and shakur and then also wherever needed
third year i was transpo director and i worked with 5/6 grade room, wherever needed, but still mostly shaquil, shakur, malcolm, and devin
fourth year is now...im head director and i wander around site, sometimes going with the teens.....i try not to have favorites and to be equally stern with everyone, but paul is so much better at being bad cop :o)
i feel really lucky to have been a part of CHAMPs, ive been able to see the kids grow, ive seen the program improve year after year, ive made great friends, and champs has helped me grow too
anyways, thats my quick life history in CHAMPs, i could go on for days, but ill stop for now...
