I was hoping this forum would become a place where we could talk and just get to know each other better. We're always very busy with the kids during site that we often go much of the quarter without knowing anything about each other.

The staff also welcomes any feedback you may have, be it a concern about site or simply acknowledging that something went well...we'd love to hear about it.

Since no one was willing to venture out, I figured I'd be the bold one (ooh, lookie that, we can use html here...and yes, pun intended ;) ) and that this was a good a time as any to take a break from studying this accursed neurosci and see if I can't kickstart a little discussion.

So who the heck am I? For those of you that don't know, my official title is the finance director of CHAMPs. I'm a third year cybernetics student (don't be impressed, it's just a fancy title, honest) and I've been volunteering with CHAMPs since my first year. I really enjoy the program and love spending time with the kids. They truly are amazing (brilliant and ever so full of energy). My first year I tutored Kelvin, now in 5th grade. Since I became a director last year, I haven't officially had a kid, but you'll often find me keeping the twins (Shaquil and Shaquor) in line. Ya...I'm one of the few *cough* tutors/directors *cough* left that will actually yell at the kids when they misbehave. Hooray for the bad cop! But when I'm not wasting my life away in lab or studying, I like to catch the local performing arts events that are constantly happening in LA. *nudge* Do I hear CHAMPs social anyone? Maybe if I get some support on this we can actually do it instead of just whining that we should be more cultured.

So what about the rest of you? Tell us something about yourself. Why CHAMPs? What do you like/dislike about it? How could we make it better? What kid(s) have you been working with and how are they doing? Any suggestions for CHAMPs socials? Let's hear it!
