Subject: 2-Box Question

I guess I'll break the ice here and ask the first question :) Has anyone had any experience with 2-bx detectors? Just wondering which would be the best to get? I know of a few lost caches that exist and have had no luck with detectors with large coils. I need to get out the "Big Guns". I have a backhoe availabel so digging won't be an issue.

>I recommend either the whites 2-box [non cable trace] or the discovery electronics unit.
they both have a ground cancel mode, and can be used to also locate voids in the ground, or distinguish between ferrous/non ferrous.
they will not work in a salt water contaminated area; for that area you need a good pulse with the largest loop possible. the downside to the pulse is it will pick up small items like coins
that the pipe locator will miss.
another item of use is the fisher fx-3 mag stick for iron only targets. if you have something in an iron box it would be good;
i have hit wellheads capped off back when it was not profitable to pump below a certain depth. i've hit them at 12 to 14 feet. a fluxgate magnetometer would be nice but start around $9000., or a gradiometer mag. which scans the area only beneath the antennae. it's expensive too.

THE SPECTRUM/XLT. CONTACT HIM DIRECTLY TO SEE IF HE RECOMMENDS IT FOR THE SIZE & DEPTH OF THE OBJECT YOU ARE HUNTING.

I have a Garrett 2 box but for deep items I set up a Minelab SD2100 with a IJ 12V MOD and a 25" Nuggetfinder coil.
