I think that anytime you want to promote programs, whether it be a little kid program, high school program, college athletics or wrestling in general you have got to start from the bottom up. By this I mean you have got to build a base to pull interested engaged individuals from to promote growth at all levels. It is proven that people who start tasks early in life (like wrestling) tend to be more successful in those endeavors, than those who do not. It is also a fact that college wrestling and wrestling in general has seen a decline in membership. Partly due to funding issues (some concerning Title 9), but I think due more to a lack of promotion of the sport at an early age.

In the case of USA Wrestling showing support to the college arena, I think their efforts should be focused on increasing the numbers of their members and participants. This will not only benefit the kids but it will also make USA Wrestling as an organization stronger, our wrestling community and ultimately college wrestling and beyond.

Hopefully this will get us started in the right direction, does anyone else have any ideas?
