Along with dealing with her mother's "illness" her entire life, she had always had an inkling of a fear that she would turn out to be as nuts as her, and end up driving everyone away the same way her mother had - and then just be a lonely, crazy woman wandering the streets alone. She had the lonely part down pat. She climbed out of her curled up position, crossing the room and moving his arms from his lap to open them and deposit herself in his lap, tightening his arms around her the best she could.
