I remember the Gulf station on the corner of Mill Road and 22. There was another station diagonally across the street where my parents bought most of their gas. The station manager as a man named Tom Tarter (sp?). Can't remember what kind of gas it was but do remember going in there after I finally got my license, asking for $2 worth of gas (about.50/gallon or less) and asking to have my oil and water checked and whoever was waiting on me did all this with a smile. If it was the manager, he always talked to me and asked after my parents and made sure I was not driving recklessly. There was an Italian restaurant next door to the Gulf station, Luigi's. Do you know if it is still there? My parents loved it, along with the South End Albanese's.
