Subject: Balloon Festival UPDATE!

I wanted to inform everyone that after a brief meeting with a member of the Balloon Festival board it was decided that unfortunately there will be some changes in our 2008 pageants. It was the decision of the UMMBF board that the Queen/Teen pageant will not be held on May 3rd as originally announced but at Mylan Park on October 4th during the 24th annual Balloon Festival. In part their decision was based on the fact that the splendor and charm need not just be just in the skies above Morgantown on those brilliant autumn days, but shall also grace the stage of our festival for the second year. And much to my disappointment, the tentative arrangements for the childrens pageants were also discarded. So to sum it up- our Queen/Teen pageant has been moved from May 3rd until Oct. 4th!!

As a relatively new pageant director, (to this festival anyway) I need to trust that the UMMBF board has made the best decisions for the festival as a whole. I am predisposed to be selfish and think of the festival in terms of the pageant and �my girls� only and not of the entire festival and of the numerous hours of labor and expense that it entails.

Please allow me to apologize for myself and the UMMBF board if this has caused undue difficulties for anyone. I wish to thank those of you that inquired about the pageant and asked for applications. I hope that you remember me in the late summer! I want to wish good fortune to my fellow directors and the lucky young ladies that will soon wear their crowns. Also, best of luck to each contestant as they vie for the titles of their choice. I have said it before and I will again, we have the best of the best here in our state and for that alone- we are blessed.
