I heard they do not have a pageant director after they discarded Jacki Morgan in Feb. They have gone through several different ones.
The 2006 titleholders have not been contacted by the board except for the Queen
by anyone except the past director.
Good luck to anyone that decides to do this pageant this year or anytime in the
future. You may find the answer you are looking for at the Mason-Dixon website at

Miss Ability Pageant 2007 -- Jacki Morgan- Volunteer Coordinator, 07:08:33 05/05/07 Sat [1] (pool-71-182-32-177.clrkwv.east.verizon.net/71.182.32.177)
I would like to invite EVERYONE to the FEEL GOOD pageant of the year! Miss Ability 2007!
The Miss Ability Pageant recognizes young women in the North Central West Virginia and Southwestern Pennsylvania area and helps them to realize their talents and abilities. The first annual Miss Ability Pageant was held May 21, 2005 for young ladies that suffer from a disability with the hope to improve their self-confidence and teach them about the importance of goal setting. This pageant was the brainchild of organizer Dea Simpson. (Miss Mon Valley 2007)
On May 19th at South Middle School in Morgantown, WV at 7:00 pm ~ I would like to see the auditorium filled with people supporting these amazing young ladies. Each of us is so very blessed with loved ones that attend every concert, ballgame and activity that we become involved in. I would love to be backstage with these young ladies and watch them pull the curtains aside and gasp in wonderment at the amount of people that have come to cheer them on. To have them bask in the applause and admiration that our children get all of the time.
On that evening there will be a Little Miss (5-11), Junior Miss (12-19) and a Miss Ability (20 & up) pageant. The older two groups will have a personal interview earlier in the day and we will see all of them in an opening number, their formal wear as well as enjoy their onstage interview. And we will delight to many of their optional talent performances!
All will walk away with trophies and crowns but we will have three final titleholders! I guarantee by the end of the night that YOU will walk away the winner and feel better than you have in months!
You may visit our website to view photos or for more information - http://missabilitypageant.googlepages.com/
Or you may email me at bookworm.jm@verizon.net
Come on West Virginia- This is what pageantry SHOULD be about!!!!! Good times, people helping each other and FUN! I hope to see you there!!!!

2007 Balloon Festival Pageants -- Jacki Morgan, 07:35:56 04/25/07 Wed [1] (pool-72-84-37-193.clrk.east.verizon.net/72.84.37.193)
I am delighted to announce the first annual University Motors Mountaineer Balloon Festival Teen & Queen pageants! Our pageants will be held at Mylan Park on October 6, 2007 in Morgantown.
The Balloon Festival will be celebrating its 23rd year but YOU can be the first ever Miss Balloon Festival Teen or Queen! Our teen titleholder will win a cash prize as well as a beautiful crown and sash & a prize package that is in the works. The entry fee will be $65.00.
The 2007 Miss Balloon Festival will win an all expense paid trip to the 2008 WVAFF convention in Charleston, a beautiful crown and sash, $500.00 and a prize package that is still under development. Entry fee is $100.00.
Our deadline will be 9/7/07 and if you win another F&F title you will have your entry fee refunded.
I am very excited about this venture as I am working with some of the most remarkable ladies in pageantry. With me on this production are Kim Goodwin, Jenny Goodwin and Dea Simpson. When asked to direct this pageant last fall I was already committed to another pageant, but we all know that when a window closes~a door opens. And this door is an extraordinary opening to an amazing festival where I plan to continue my commitment to West Virginia pageantry and the young ladies that represent it.
Please watch this message board for more updates!! As always I can be reached at bookworm.jm@verizon.net
**side note** I am fully aware we are the same date as the Miss WV USA pageant~ this date was set last year for the festival and totally beyond my control. Best of luck to the young ladies that choose that system. But I still feel that there are those dedicated individuals that wish to represent a wonderful festival and all that entails. I believe that these are the devoted young ladies that will enter pageants on weekends that conflict with other pageants such as Miss WV USA and Miss WV America and their prelims because that know in their hearts they will represent the title they are striving to obtain to the very best of their ability.

When a window closes ~ a door opens. -- Jacki Morgan, 10:58:48 02/09/07 Fri [4] (pool-72-65-91-196.clrk.east.verizon.net/72.65.91.196)
When a window closes ~ a door opens.
This is to let the pageant people of West Virginia know that as of yesterday ( 2/8) I am no longer associated with the Florence Merow Mason~Dixon Festival. I received a telephone call from our new president and was informed that my services as a pageant director were no longer required. This really came as no surprise to me because it was alluded to at our last board meeting in Jan. In preparation of the Feb. board meeting I had prepared a letter of resignation that I immediately emailed to as many board members as I had addys for. Not in retaliation, but only because I wanted my opinions and voice to be heard by our board.
I believe that the majority of the MD board and I have a different vision of pageantry. They believe that $150 to $200 is enough for the Queen as scholarship money and that just having the title should be honor enough. Having been around other festivals and directors, I believe different and this is where the parting of ways began and I first considered resigning this past Aug.
I changed my mind at that Aug. meeting because of the young ladies that already wore the MD crown and the ones that had already committed to our upcoming pageant that was a few weeks away. They are the reason I volunteer my time and energy, not for the people that sit in chairs at a board meeting.
I wish to thank all of the parents and contestants that have participated in the Mason~Dixon Festival pageants under my directorship. I hope that you had a wonderful experience and that you share some of the great memories that I do. It was a pleasure to direct your children and I thank you for that opportunity!
The only detail that is left unresolved is the matter of the photos that were promised for the 2006 contestants. It is my understanding that they are in the possession of the new president. If you competed and did not receive your photo you can contact the festival at
administrator@masondixonfestival.org and ask about them. It is out of my hands and for this I apologize.
If anyone has any questions, they can feel free to contact me.
I wish the new director Judy Minor success in the 2007 Florence Merow Mason~Dixon Festival pageant.
Although I am not with the Mason~Dixon Festival, my time in pageantry is far from over. You NEVER know when you will see me again. Watch this board for details!!

WV Autumn Festival Announces Dates and Upcoming News -- WVAF Staff, 16:03:37 01/24/07 Wed [2] (pool-72-65-75-132.clrk.east.verizon.net/72.65.75.132)
The WV Autumn Festival is please to announce their upcoming dates, October 20 & 21, 2007.
2007 holds some new and exciting changes and we look forward to a great event.
Our theme will be "When you wish upon a star, your dreams come true."
The GLASS SLIPPER will be new to the WV Autumn Festival but a welcome return to pageantry as it was given in place of a trophy or plaque when the always beautiful Brittani Chase Mills won the WV Homecoming Reunion.
It is also more valuable and makes a better collectible item.
There will be some other new and exciting changes coming including another website link sometime in the next few weeks.
Our Pageant weekend will include Teen and Queen winners and we expect the excitement to grow as interested young ladies throughout the state begin to prepare to comepte as the Teen and Miss divisions both will be crowning more than one person and giving more than one title in each. A lot of changes this year as we prepare to learn and grow.
Our WVAFF winner wll still receive her entry fee and accomodations to WVAFF 2008 in Charleston next year. Keep checking back with the web on a few of the VOY boards for updates as they are made avaialble to you.
Thanks and blessings to all.

Congratulations Jordan Beckett! -- Jenny Sullivan, 08:46:07 11/28/06 Tue [5] (dhcp-063-050.cns.ohiou.edu/132.235.63.50)
Congratulations to Wirt County Fair Queen Jordan Beckett for being named Captain of the Class A All-State Volleyball team!
For those of you who haven't met Jordan yet, you're in for a treat. She's a beautiful young lady who's so much fun to be around. Everyone loves Jordan. She's also Wirt County's Homecoming Queen this year.
I think we might just see her in the Top 15 in Charleston this year.

Hello! -- Michael Rader, 18:34:36 12/24/06 Sun [2] (pool-72-65-153-217.chrlwv.east.verizon.net/72.65.153.217)
Hello to everyone! Sorry I have been missing in action but I have had to deal with a lot of personal issues from the first of October and don't know when or if it will ever end.
During the weekend of Miss WV USA 2007, a very close friend of the family had died and her funeral was the day of the pageant so I wasn't able to attend. Then two weeks later, I was diagnosed with Thyroid Disease and my medication made me very ill (I'm fine now). My Aunt Mary, my mom's sister, was diagnosed with stage four Liver Cancer the Friday after Thanksgiving. While performing surgery to see if they could remove any of the cancer, they found a tumor the size of a grapefruit on her colon. The doctor's were able to completely remove the tumor and some of the cancer on her liver but she will need massive amounts of chemo for her to be able to live. My Aunt Mary's doctor believes that the chemo will work and hope that it will shrink the cancer small enough to where he can go back in a remove it. She is still recovering because of the massive tumor that was on her colon so this Christmas has been a very hard one. The thought of basically losing my second mother terrifies me so thats why I haven't been posting on these boards along with other things. I guess when people say, "When it rains, IT POURS!" and they were definitely right.
During these past two months, my life has changed so much and made me realize that I take to much for granted. I also realized some of the most stupidest stuff I have ever done and caused and I just wanted to apologize to those people I have hurt this year. I'm so sorry, you don't realize how much I regret it and wish I could take it all back.
Thank you so much for the people that have stuck with me through thick and thin and I appreciate it so much that you guys/girls will never understand and also sorry for not keeping in touch.
But, I just wanted to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a WONDERFUL Happy New Year and I will see everyone Jan. 12, 2007 at the 2007 Miss WV Assoc. of Fairs and Festivals Pageant.
Take care and God Bless,
Michael :)

Remember the reason for the season, and to enjoy your holiday including the food, you can always exercise after the celebration and before the pageant.
Be safe and take a minute to remember the troops far away from their families that make our freedom possible.
Take a minute to remember those that roam the streets of our nation alone, without homes and family or love and to remember the ones we have all lost in years gone by.
Be thankful for all you have from shelter, fresh air, enough food, family, friends, love and to freedom.
Make wonderful holiday memories and fantatsic ones at WVAFF as well.
Wishing everyone the best holidau filled with hope, peace, memories, laughter, forgiveness, kindness, blessings and love.
Merry Christmas, Sue and family

My daughter is fairly new to the pageant scene and will be 13 in January. She has been in commericial pageants and now wants to try F & F. Are the rules about the same? If she should win a title in the Teen division can she continue competing and win more than one title a year like in commercial pageants? Thanks for any help.

I saw on the other board where someone was requesting 2007 pageant dates. I already had the Interstate Fair & Benedum Festival listed on jennyspageantpage.com, but I also added the Clay County Golden Delicious Festival and WV Autumn Festival.
If any of you know your 2007 pageant dates already, send me an e-mail at sullivj2@ohio.edu and I'll get them on there for you.
Thanks!

Wow, we're building quite a list here! Thanks to everyone for sending information in.
Betty, I just got your information added.
Cammie, I never received your e-mail, so can you please send me another one? I hope you're doing well!
Joberta, I got your e-mail the other day (and laughed out loud of course, as I always do!), but I'm so sorry I didn't write back. (You know how bad I am about that. Just ask Richard.) Anyway, I added your dates that same day but just didn't take the time to write back and let you know I did.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. Can you believe that we'll all be seeing each other in just 7 short weeks??!!

Happy Thanksgiving! -- Jacki Morgan, 07:25:31 11/22/06 Wed [1] (pool-72-84-52-154.clrkwv.east.verizon.net/72.84.52.154)
I just wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a blessed Thanksgiving. This year has seen many ups and downs for many of us, but I pray that we are all stronger for it. My prayer for you all is a table filled abundantly with food, laughter and the voices of loved ones filling the air, a healthy life for both you and your family, a few dollars stashed in the bank for a rainy day and above all~ an appreciation of all of these things.
As much as we love pageantry and many of us put our heart and souls into it, in the end, will it really matter? When my time times and I am laid to rest, people will not be saying She was once a pageant director. I pray that they will say that I was a good person, or that they will remember a kindness done. But my guess is they will remember something I goofed up or something off the wall I said!
Happy Thanksgiving my friends and loved ones! Many of you have turned the bad parts of my year good and the good parts of my year into something AMAZING!

Questions about Jan's Fair/Festivals in Charleston -- Stephanie, 04:29:32 10/26/06 Thu [4] (rrcs-24-106-235-197.central.biz.rr.com/24.106.235.197)
I am hoping someone can help me understand upcoming Fairs and Festivals to be held in Charleston in Jan. Last year I was able to stay Thursday thru Sunday and had a complete print out of everything and since my daughter was competig everything was paid for by Mannington. This year she will be giving up her title as Ms. WV Fairs and Festivals. Her dad, his girlfriend and her will be down there on Thursday. I can't come until Friday. I have several family members who want to come with me and attend Friday and Saturday night's events and be able to present Stacy with gifts as she gives her fairwell speech. Does anyone know how much tickets will be for the Friday and Saturday night events only? We already have our rooms reserved. I heard there was not going to be a dinner, like last year, on Saturday evening. Any help someone can give is greatly appreciated. Or if someone can tell me who to contact regarding this. thank you all
