Subject: The Substitute anyone?

"What Kate Does" wasn't very good but "The Substitute" rocked!

My review is on LJ:

I loved Ben's eulogy, I was wondering whether he didn't regret the murder a moment before he said it. Typical Ben!

The most interesting thing about the flash-sideways is IMO definitely the fact that things were already different before, like Shannon and Helen.

While 23 Shepard could be Christian it's not Claire, because Littleton is crossed out on the ceiling. I think I saw Rousseau as well but I'm not sure, I couldn't really make out more names.

I was tempted to search for other names in the crossed out ones but gave up because I was too tired! Good catch on Littleton!

Do you think it means that Claire is really dead? I've always thought that she was but who knows...

Shouldn't Jarrah be crossed out as well?

Does crossed out mean dead or that Jacob just felt they weren't eligible anymore?

The way they sprung Claire on us last time makes me think she's still alive, not a ghost or an apparition. At least I hope so.. we'll see!

I don't want Sayid to be dead either but a part of me suspects that he died as Locke did and is now actually inhabited by Jacob, as Locke has been taken over by the MIB. Or he's actually dead and contaminated like Claire apparently is and Rousseau was...

I can't wait for next week!

[> [> [> [> Why would.... -- Lij, Monday, February 22, 08:21:52pm [1] (ca-01.cinergycom.net/216.135.2.28)

Dogen... or whatever his name is, the leader at the temple ... why would he want to have Sayid dead if Jacob had entered into him.

What 'it' is that is growing in Sayid, is evidently that which has manifested in Claire. I think Claire died from her knock on the head (?) and was 'resurrected' (did Miles talk to her spirit or the resurrected Claire?)? And 'it' doesn't like 'the Others.'

But the Christian Shepard who got Claire to leave was actually the MIB who appeared to Claire. Then it was the MIB also - as Christian - who told Locke to move the Island. But which Christian appeared to Jack in LA?

But I am betting that 'it' can be resisted and we will see that happen in Sayid (Sayid is central to the struggle on the Island?). I think it all goes back to Soren Kierkegaard's Fear and Trembling (French translation, Crainte et Tremblement), something will come which will be Sayid's test of faith. It came for Claire and she perhaps did not pass it and thus the infection overwhelmed her?

So am I making any sense?

...
