I'll follow you again Megan but let's hope we get more responses and more early so the people who work will have something to comment on when they get on line.
Good luck on staying off cigarettes.
Edith, my sister-in-law, called to tell me about an interesting turn of events. Last night, they had a social for booster clubs of teams involved in this series of games that start tonight. Booster clubs have sold tickets and advertising in a combined program.
Most of the work was done by the previous administration but officers were guests at the reception last night. My brother Warren with his wife Edith and Howard and Evelyn. Howard is vice president and Edith secretary-treasurer.Opening week is like that.
Howard and Evelyn are parents of Suzi, the girl who was smoking with my niece Cindi. Another daughter, Shannon, is a senior on the volleyball team who has her playing time limited by the promotion of Cindi's freshman sister Shelli.
My middle son is on the junior varsity and plays tonight. I will try to report tomorrow.
Right after work tomorrow, we head to the location of the games. The official opening is Saturday morning but there is another reception Friday night. Our team plays last at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Edith said the trip to the event was slightly strained. She hated to do 2 hours without a cigarette. Howard tried to deflect any problem his wife had with my sister Diane over Shelli and Cindi.
After about an hour, the stopped and Edith stepped away from the car to have a cigarette. At that point, Evelyn told Edith she used to smoke but thankfully she quit, even if it was a little bit too late.
Evelyn said her oldest daughter Shirley stealing her cigarettes and smoking. Eve said she quit immediately 8 years ago but it was too late for Shirley.
Eve said that was 8 years ago and ended 20 years of heavy smoking. Soon, they moved to our town but Shirley did not give up smoking. She said she really doesn't mind Shirley smoking at 19 but wish she hadn't started at 11. With Suzi trying them all 11, Eve said it was more than she could take.
Edith said she started smoking young but gave them up. She said she returned during the stress of the move here. When they got to the reception, drinks were being served. Warren bellied up to the bar. Edith said she did not drink but for Howard and Evelyn to enjoy because she would drive.
When someone else is providing the liquor, it must be easy to drink.
Edith said she nursed pure orange juice and found a place where smokers retreated. Once when she went over there, Evelyn followed. She said Evelyn said since they were away from home, she might as well have a cigarette.
By the time they left, Evelyn had 3 cigarettes. When they left, Edith drove and Evelyn got in the front seat. The men squeezed into the back seat.
Evelyn had one more of Edith's Marlboro Lights before they stopped for a pit stop. This time Evelyn bought a pack of her old brand, B&H full flavor menthols. Eve offered one to Edith to pay her back. Edith said one of them was more than she ever needed.
But, they made it home and a dazed Evelyn and dazed, amazed and amused husband Howard made it home. They planned lunch today. To be nice
