Subject: Jessica's Volleyball Team Smokes Them on and off the Court

It looks like Megan found out Jessica was smoking after all just as she had posted here.

Let me start by asking about your smoking Thursday. I'm leaving the road open for you tomorrow, Bob F.
When Jessica did get home last night, we had a brief talk. She turned a lit cigarette my direction but I did not take a puff. Lisa came to join us and she did take a puff Jessica offered.
Then we started talking about how this smoking thing is affecting the girls on her team and even their mothers.
"We didn't really invite the mothers to smoke although Walt and Neely's mother has been smoking but does not intend to get the habit," my daughter said.
I told Jessica almost no one intends to get the habit but that agreeing to join the girls again has pushed her back into the habit. She agreed, excelled, and reminded me that she is the champion smoker on her team.
Jess more or less went down the list. The said it remained to be seen if Neely or her mother Theresa could give up smoking on Sept. 20, the date they set to quit together.
Jessica said some mothers, mentioning Rebecca in particular, are going more overboard than the girls. "Now Amy smokes a cigarette or shares one when she has to, Jessica said.
She said as Maria falls more for Boyd she is making more and more mistakes and Amy is getting more and more playing time.
"In the meantime, Maria has gone from opposed to the idea to smoking more than me," Jessica said. I said her mother calls the whole thing silly but is also smoking, at least at games.
"I bet neither of them smoke like Patricia," Lisa said. Patricia is Maria's little sister and star of her middle school team. I was glad to hear Lisa does not rank herself as top smoker.
Jessica said when her mother returned to smoking, Gin started in a big way but still does not inhale. Lisa joined in again to say that her sister Addison, in the 8th grade, and even Blair (6th grader) are smoking more.
Jessica said Sandra, another senior on the team, barely joins in on the smoking and added that she did not think Sandra's mother Dena smokes. Actually, Dena smokes one a day at work but I saw no reason to add that.
Angela, tall and a starter in volleyball, really only likes a cigar, Jessica laughed. I see Angela's mother Jacquelyn who can take several cigarettes or leave them depending on the situation. She's a single mom.
Jess said Wanda, another sophomore, only tolerates the smoking idea. I have no idea about her mother Lois.
Apparently April's mother has discovered her little girl's smoking and has confessed to some smoking herself. She wants both to quit.
On the other hand, Kelsey is glad her daughter Elaine is finally trying smoking. Elaine is not interested in smoking at her mother's pace.
Melanie, my neighbor, says she may join me in quitting but Jessica doubts if her daughter Charlotte will quit. Charlotte and Jessica are freshman starters on the team.
Kimberly, a very young looking freshman, has been brought up to the team since the smoking plan started. I doubt if she has had a cigarette. I doubt if her mother has smoked much either but you never know.
I got through the day without smoking. I'm feeling stronger. Please tell us about your smoking Thursday.
