When the girl next door and my husband's sister tried to get a cigarette at 14, they called success scoring a cigarette.
While there was no direct smoking happening at work, Sherry the most innocent of innocents, came to me in private with a concern. Sherry has moved in with Tara and Betty in the apartment above where fellow new worker Marilyn and her daughters live.
Sherry's been going with Brian, a son of Marilyn's who does not live at the location. Sherry was home alone when she looked down to see Marilyn's 15-year-old girl smoking. The only thing that connects is that Sherry and Marilyn's youngest were the only ones without a date.
Marilyn said yesterday that she had dinnner with a "nice gentleman." The older daughter was apparently out with a boy at a school event and Brian was not with Sherry.
He did leave with her after work yesterday. As for advice, I said it was up to her to tell Marilyn that she saw her young girl smoking. She said she would tell Brian so I will have to wait and see what his reaction was.
She said she did not share the information with her roommates who would think a 15-year-old girl smoking was no big deal. Marilyn, by the way, was to have dinner with the same gentleman last night.
Sherry's roommates Tara and Betty, more party inclined than Sherry, are also newcomers here.
Off to work for me.
