I imagine our normal morning conversation starters like Susan, Cathy and Megan are having hangovers. Wait Cathy is a nice girl. She just got too many fumes from the Vet. But as you are able, please tell us about your smoking Saturday.
You know there is a rich guy back home who owns a Vet and he actually has the no smoking rule inside his car. Around here, a no smoking rule for a vehicle would make it about as useless as an old pickup with the passenger seat missing. Even worse, it could be a car where skunks mated last night.
Anyway, I have no hangover but I'm developing a hangup. It was a sweet smelling morning for me.With Wilma gone to be with family to celebrate the arrival of a new nephew, I thought I would have no smoke-laden lips to wake me up.
Instead, everybody came. Not really everybody. Sister Sharon didn't come. But Lisa, the gf of my roommate Gene, led the way.
Gwen, Wilma's roommate, previous saint Ann, previous disowned saint Peggy and some up and coming smokers like Heather, Alexis and Bree all came up to give me smokey morning kisses. They were just brief smacks you understand, nothing like the extended exchanges Wilma and I have.
Lisa hung around to make the coffee and I asked her what the heck? She said if you're talking about Ann carrying a pack, she said Bones likes her to smoke. Lisa described her smoking.
"She doesn't inhale but I didn't either when I started," Lisa said. "Bones told her to smoke and she did."
Gene said Lisa finally came around to be a great smoker. She may not know it but we were all watching her progress. The inhaling learning curve for Lisa was one of the most obvious.
But that was last year. I came down with a cup of coffee in a mug to see the morning coffee clatche. My gosh, Ann was already smoking, drinking heavily creamed coffee and snuggling up to Bones.
Bones has no padding. Wilma says I'm developing too much padding. I call it muscle.
Bones has scored 2 touchdowns this year and I've only scored one. I thought it was because I was double-teammed and they paid no attention to Bones. Apparently he really knows how to score.
I made only the third guy to be out with the girls and I've gone back in. Bone and Dean were the other 2. I've already talked to Wilma who knows pretty much everything that went on around here.
She said Ann dumped all her religious thinking to cater to Bones, whom she said is "lean and mean."
I told her Ann's coffee looked to be half and half. She said Peggy was not smoking cigarettes but promised Wilma a Swisher Sweet when she got back. I asked if she had smoked another cigar to celebrate the birth of the baby.
She said sure. I asked who else. Wilma said Nora, the new mom, is only smoking cigarettes but even non-smokers in the family like Loretta, Heather, who goes with Wilma's brother, and her mother had a cigar.
She said it had been a bad ozone weekend for her mother who is also smoking Winstons, her old brand of almost 4 decades ago.
I told Wilma I would try to see her before the game starts so get there early. My parents are picking her up and taking her to the game. Apparently Ann, with Peggy, will take her back to campus.
Peggy has weekend dates with Dean. The girls will experience their first time at the dance place tonight.
While out smoking already this morning, someone asked Ann what her mother would say about her going wild and smoking. Gwen answered for her. "We're wondering what Sister Sharon would say."
"She would say don't make a habit of it," Peggy said. "That's why I only going to smoke these." Dean pitched his tent.
I'll give the freshmen a talk on concentration when we go to breakfast. We have a game to play and we have to go to their place to face some guys who would love to beat us bad.
As you folks recover from whatever you did last night, please tell us about your Saturday smoking. Or as Sister Sharon -- well maybe her husband -- would say, again I say unto you, "please tell us about your smoking Saturday."
