In reply to: Ted 's message, "Please tell us about your smoking Saturday" on 07:30:14 09/16/06 Sat

Hi Ted and everybody else. I don't have a hangover. I'm sure you all wanted to know news on the girls. They won 4 matches yesterday. They smoked, too. Even Jessica joined in. Lisa smoking is old hat.
The visiting guys got to visit with the girls after their third match last night. That was the first one we saw. I'm sure the diehards on the team like Maria, Charlotte and Amy got in a cigarette before their third and fourth matches of the night.
After winning all four, jublilant coaches gave them until midnight to get to their rooms. Rusty, who looks like Huckleberry Finn to me, and his older brother Tom hitched up with Maria.
Neely found another college boy from our town. The rest of the team huddled up in a motel room until they had to go to their own rooms.
All made their assigned non-smoking, no boys motel rooms in time. Neely had to sprint and the coach was holding the door open as she made hers.
Lisa is in a room with several girls her age and older. That room is loosely supervised by Andi, mother of new player Betsy, and Sylvia, mother of Marie. Their younger daughters were among the ones with Lisa and others in an adjoining room.
I thought Andi, a married woman traveling without her husband, did not smoke but I was to learn that she is a social smoker. If you're looking for a hangover, she and Sylvia were sure working on one when we left the club at the motel.
When they finally got to the room, I hope they were able to count to 5 or 6 or how many pre-teen girls were supposed to be there.
From my second-floor perch, I can see Jessica among the girls trooping to the team breakfast. They have a match at 10 and then could have one or 2 more depending on whether they win or not.
They're in what the tournament calls the Super 8. If you make the final 4, you get a match at 4 and 6 for certain. If you lose, they get one match. Ours would be at 2 p.m. We all have rooms for the night so they might as well win.
Despite the distractions, the girls are loose and winning far more than expected. The teams are very strong at this point.
Not to be a point of distraction but, Tom and Huck are going to bring boys for all the girls on the team making such a request tonight. They live an hour away from here but 3 hours from us. The guys, mainly football players like Tom and Huck, are going to be here for the first morning match. Well, the girls are eating. Lisa has made it to our room as insructed. She stepped in here and lit a cigarette like she was much older.
We'll take Lisa and the boys to dine at the drive thru of the Golden Arches. Hopefully, the girls win and we will have a long break. Then they play 2 more and we will have a long night, even longer than last night.
It will be heaven if they win. A bunch of parents have spotted a place to drink our lunch. They will open the swimming pool for anyone want to use it from 11-3 today. By lunch, we will know if we need to find a place to drink our supper.
My husband and I are acting like parents but enjoying each other's company very much. We will leave the kids at the pool with lunch money and slip over to a place where many will drink. I'll just observe human nature.
Good luck Ted and all today. I think we can pull out at least one more victory.
