Subject: pregnant platy?

I have a castle in my 29 gallon tank and my male and female platys are taking turns gaurding the front. I have not seen them mate but is this a sign that she is getting ready to have babies and if so will she eat the fry.....I know Mollies do but have no clue if platys eat their young....Thank You
