The baby black mollies in my tanks have taken 3 to 5 days to act self confident like the other mollies, rather than hiding in corners, and have taken 4 to 5 months to be old enough to have babies of their own. At that point they were about an inch in length. To grow to the full size of 2 or 3 inches can take 4 or 5 months more. Feeding them twice a day speeds their growth but risks polluting the tank with too much biological material. That means, the water becomes soupy green and needs clearing with frequent 1/3 water changes. On the other extreme, some of my tanks don't get fed during the weekends and while the fish are healthy and happy, their growth rate and speed of breeding are slower. I have written other notes about my experiences wth baby black mollies, look for "Bill H." notes in this forum. Enjoy your cute baby fish and good luck!
