Subject: Re: Male/Female

It is easy to tell the Male and Female Mollie apart. The females top fin will start at the front and be a perfect half circle, attaching to her back. The males top fin will not.
His fin looks like an upside down hockey stick. It won't be attached to his back. I went to the pet store wanting a male and female. (Same thing happened to me. I got two females.) So, I looked thru books until I found a picture of a male and female and brought that to the pet store to show them what I wanted. And, as far as female mollies with their fry, they protect their fry rather than eat them! My mollie is due any day now. I have her in the breeder cage. Once she has them, she will be removed anyway. I want to keep them separate. But, don't worry about female mollies eating their babies. Just worry about other fish that may be around!
Hope this helps!!
