Subject: sick fish - Hi, newbie here, my fish is. . .

Hello all! ! !

I'm new to this site! ! !

Anyway, in short, one of my fish is kind of on the
sideways in my small 2.5gal tank**. It was fine
yesterday, but today, I noticed that it was linp,
hanging in the plant group, but not tangled. It
was kind of sideways. I dicided to poke at it to
see if it was dead, when I did this, it swam like
crazy. So, I thought it was a weird way of sleeping.
But, an hour later, I went back to check on it, and
yes, it was doing the same thing! I poked it, and
it jumped back into action. Anyway, in short, I
decided to add it to my 55gal tank with the others,
seeing how they are all doing fine. I thought that
maybe it will spruce back up. (I have two of these
same fishes, other one healthy). After putting the
sick guy in the 55gal, it would go down to bottom
and just kind of hang out, but would swimm very
slowly. I decided to put his other partner in with
him, hoping to speed the healing. Well, it seams to
be doing the trick, but very slowly. Of course, I
could be wrong. But, we'll see! (you can ask me
tomorrow). I'm just looking over at the tank and
noticed that they are together.

Ok, my question, what should I do, or should I wait
to see how the fish looks tomorrow??

** I through in about 10 fishes (1 to 1.5" in length).
I am setting up another aquareium (20gal) for my
bedroom. so, I need a temporary place for these
new guys - If I'm wrong in doing this, please
advise. soon as I can setup the 20gal tank in my
bedroom, I'm gonna through the remaining fishes in
it. Any recommendations??? I'm just waiting to
find another stand to hold the tank on.

History:

I started out with the 2.5gal tank 10 fishes in all.
water was always cloudy after 1 or 2 days. two died
is this setup.

Then, I went to a 10gal. 2 more died, but water was
much cleaner. I had switch to a power filter.

Then, well. . .now I have a 55 gal. tank with:
5 goldfish (man, they live through anything! !
2 neons (1 died two week ago)
2 thin and long catfish variation, (one is in control of
the log, where they both hang out most of the times)
1 other variatoin of catfish, though small and stubby. (he
also has claimed the log, and shares it with other CtFsh)
2 something other fish (white, and other is spotted) (white
one alomost always has his upper fins up when it chases,
or circles or butts his nose into the spotted fish (same
spicies) (they are both totally inseperable) maybe they
are matting? ? ? ...lovers? ? ? ...ayway. . .
All fake plants only.

I've had this 55gal tank for a month now, am using the
advanced power filtre (20-40) by whisper on this tank.
I've just changed the white filter today, and notice that
the the white speckles have all but dissapeared!! The tank
is beautifully clear and I love it! !

Note, anybody know of a techequie to tak pics of my tank and
fishies??? Please share.

Ok, now for my 20gal High tank plans.
This is how I'm planning it:
* through in aprox 10 or more fishes.
* NO fake plants!
* I have an assortment of various types of plants, ranigng
from very tall ones, to short ones. I want to make it
feal very real and live like. I want my fishes to be able
to hide in some of the plants.
* when I'm having trouble sleeping, I can just lift my head
and gaze at my fishes!! I hope I can find a dimmed
florescent lite??
* would I have set this up today (was my goal) but I
couldn't find a stand for my tank. $44 was the cheapist.
I'll keep looking. In the mean time, what about my 2.5gal
and fishes???

Well, I could go on and on and on. . . but I have to stop
some time!!
