Subject: Goldfish eyes accidentally sucked off--please help!!!

Hi Everyone,

My parents' friends moved away and gave them 9 beautiful goldfish. Unfortunately, one is in a very sad situation now. While my mom was using the underwater vacuum to change water, one goldfish got too close, and its eye got sucked off. Believe me, we are all very devastated and blaming ourselves profusely, especially my mom.

But now we want to know if we can do anything for that goldfish, which has been quarantined in a separate gallon bowl. I've heard of antibiotic water additives, or antibiotic food. Please recommend something for us to use to prevent infections while the fish heals.

Also, the separate gallon tank does not have the bubbling oxygenator, is this a problem?

Thank you very much,
Mary
