Yes, mollies will eat their young. Sometimes the other fish will swim right behind the fish in labor and will eat the babies as they're coming out. Thats why you should put the female who is pregnant into a breeder net or box at the top of the aquarium. The breder box floats at the top ann the net is attached. I suggest the box more. They sell them at petstores that sell fish.
The way to tell a female from a male depends on the type of dalmation mollies. If it's the sail fin the male will have a huge top fin that is used to impress the females. If its not that type, the bottom back fin on a female(when it's let down) is a triangle.The males is a toob and is canected only in one spot.(forget what its called. Something like a gonopodium or sumthin)
