Subject: Does anyone remember me?

Ermmm ... hello

I hope I'm still welcome here. Sorry I haven't posted in weeks and weeks.

Bottom line: incredibly busy. Work has been crazy since I got back from New York, and is building to a huge peak this Thursday. What happens this Thursday? Baselworld 2010, the biggest watch and jewellery show in the world (I believe) and where Rolex and Tudor (both clients) are launching their new watches. We're always heavily involved but this year we did the entire campaign for both companies, both online and offline. So it's fucking huge and we've been working our arses off. I've also been made account director for Rolex Institute, who do all of Rolex's philanthropic work, like the mentorship programme for young artists:

http://rolexmentorprotege.com/

and all of the conservation, exploration and science stuff they fund:

http://rolexawards.com/

So a couple of time a month I have to put on a suit and tie and go to Geneva, on top of all the other Basel-related craziness. (Gabs, I know Geneva is miles from where you are, but if you're ever in the area ...)

Family stuff isn't great. My dad's death was very very difficult. I'm not sure I'm quite ready to talk about it, but it was tough. But on top of that my sister's marriage seems to be breaking up, which is causing me a lot of heartache, mostly for her children, but also for her husband who I am very fond of.

Love life is also something of a mess: despite two immensely flattering one-night-stands with pretty young things since January I think I've sort of fallen in love with a French girl that I work with, and who has a boyfriend and seems determined to go out of her way to make my life a misery by flirting with me, toying with me, and ultimately rejecting me. Over and over again. I know I am being a complete fool, but seem powerless to stop myself.

BSG and Caprica are fucking awesome. I have absolutely no clue what the hell is going on in Lost. Andy, sorry to hear you got dumped -- he's an idiot.

It's my birthday next Saturday, and you are all officially invited to the party, which will be a meal in Gambetta, going to see The Furious Golden Showers in concert, and then a party back at my house.

Love to you all, I promise to write more once Basel is over and done with.

Where to start? ;-)

Firstly, that woman needs sorting out, how dare she mess you around like that? wait a minute though, why are you letting her you silly head? then again who am I to talk, been there, done that (recently) got the tee shirt etc, I'm a fine one to try and give advice on love right?

As for the rest all I can say is I'm sorry its so bad for you at the moment, I'm not going to come out with all the usual cliches either "time is a great healer", "you'll get over it in time" and the worst one "pull yourself together!!" I remember how I felt, pissed off and very angry, just know we're thinking of you.

Best of luck with the conferences in Basel, glad work is going well for you even if you are rushed off your feet!

As for the "pretty young things" why not? life is for living!!

*hugs*

Why wouldn't I?

Girls are indeed evil. French ones especially so.

[> Hiiii, account director for Rolex Institute! -- Gabs, 23:02:11 03/16/10 Tue [1] (85.5.57.121)

I missed you. Thought you were takeing a time-off because of your father, maybe but I guess being busy distracts you somewhat. Sounds like fancy stuff, I'll be thinking of you this Thursday. And like gretch, I also wouldn't say no to a Rolex!

Basel and Geneva aren't really in my neighborhood, although I'll be passing through the Geneva airport next Saturday on my way to NY! Seeing how you've got other birthday plans I don't suppose you'll be there but I hope you have a smashing time nevertheless! Hopefully you'll be able to enjoy it after all the stress.

Sorry to hear about your sister's marriage, it sounds quite painful. And tsk tsk, those French girls... I hope she either wises up or leaves you alone. And either way, it's good to know that pretty young things are always happy to have you ;)

You must catch up on Lost as soon as you can. Only 9 more eps to go, can't believe it :(

Which is why I said I have no fucking clue what is going on. I can't wait for it to end so I can stop watching it.

You really need to see BSG.

Have a great time in NYC. What's the occasion?
