need help -- Matthew Hightower, 14:43:16 03/15/06 Wed [2]
hello, ive been trying to reach you on carbford.com. i have a 94 cobra that im trying to figure out the wiring on converting it to carbed. ive seen that you took that 94 gt and obviously made it work. heres my questions......
1. how can i wire in my msd6al box w/o having the duraspark ignition?
2. with the msdbox(if possible) can i use it with the stock 85 distributor i have?
3. what wires do i have to splice into to make this work?
4. if there is any other suggestions you may have ill take all the advice i can get.
I have owned this car for 5 yrs but im not familiar with the wiring aspect. just trying to build a strip/street car and im struck in this rut. thanks alot matthew h.

Re: need help -- bill, 13:47:39 03/24/06 Fri [1]
Sorry, I havent checked on this site for a couple of weeks.
The 6AL will replace the Duraspark. You just need to find the wire that runs from the ignition switch to the Duraspark and re-route it to the 6AL. The Duraspark is history. Your 6AL install instructions will show all of this in detail.
I believe the 85 distributor is a 2 wire. You just need to locate a switched source to power the dizzy.
My suggestion is to not attempt the conversion unless you have basic wiring skills. You can do most everything with a test light, but need some idea what makes everything work, and how to go about what it is youre trying to do.
Maybe you have a buddy that can help?
Sorry I dont have specific wire colors or location. I looked for available power sources as needed, and eliminated anything that no longer had a use.
Good luck!

motor mounts -- Cody, 19:27:29 02/12/07 Mon [1]
Really neat car. I was wanting to put an older 302 in my 94 but it was originally a 3.8 v6. Do you know if i could just but mounts for a gt and use them?
