From lurking around I found out that the Stuart House Benefit is an event that we'd probably agree is for a good cause.

The Stuart House is a program of the Rape Treatment Center at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center, and has become �an internationally recognized, model program that was created to serve the special needs of sexually abused children.� Staggering statistics as reported in the event program tell us that about one out of every four girls and one out of every eight boys are sexually abused before they reach eighteen years of age. In addition, more than half of all rape victims are under eighteen years of age.

In many cases when sexually abused children and their families seek help, they sometimes need to go to as many as six locations and are often subjected to over a dozen interviews. �To remedy these problems, Stuart House provides a one-stop center where child victims can receive all the services they need in a single location�that was designed to provide a therapeutic environment for children,� the literature explains. �Police officers, prosecutors and child protection workers have offices at Stuart House and work as a team to help child victims. In addition, children receive expert forensic medical examinations and comprehensive treatment services that are so critical to their recovery from the trauma of sexual abuse.�
