Subject: Precious pets........

Whats really in that tin of pet food?

http://www.nexusmagazine.com/articles/petfood2.html

http://www.api4animals.org/facts?p=359&more=1

*****Warning- do not read if you have a weak stomach- I felt like puking after finding out what people are unknowingly giving to their precious pets.

Sample~
Euthanased pets from shelters and vetinary clinics [common practice in the late nineties, not sure if it is still done]
Cancerous tissue from farm animals
Grains contaminated with mycotoxins.[can make animals ill, or give them cancer]
Rancid waste cooking oils
Hydrolysed hair- well, its protein even if they can't utilise it
Dehydrated garbage
Poultry waste, swine waste, ruminant waste- yes, shit.
SODIUM PENTOBARBITAL- used for euthanasing animals.

That's why we buy Bil-Jac and Nutro. All natural, no additives.

I swear, our pets eat better than we do.

They make Biljac in my area. The commercial says "...and without all those fillers, your back yard cleanup will be alot easier, too."

But in all disgusting honestly, aren't there also traces of these things in our own food? I mean really, unless you grow it in your backyard, almost everything is contaminated with something. I had a book once that listed how many cochroach legs were allowed in a bar of chocolate and facts like that - but I quit reading it because it grossed me out.

Sad thing is...you could tell me that there were roach legs in the chocolate bar I was eating, and I would still continue to eat it. My addiction knows no limits!

Jes.....only one could be classed as a contaminant~ Sodium Pento~ but the rest are authorised ingredients.

Carson, I betcha you wouldn't if you really knew beyond a doubt that cockroach legs were in there. You'd probably change brands to one that proclaimed 'cockroach free'.

noslave - you're cracking me up this morning! LOL!

Amadaun - there's arsenic in our drinking water! Almost everything is contaminated with bad shiznits. That's why so many people turn to organic foods, though I'm not sure they can be trusted either. Not the larger companies anyhow. It's a shame that Americans are too "Go go go" to plant their own food.

Also, when you say dog food tin, do you mean can? Like do you buy a tin of corn? Or is your dog food in an actual tin like sardines and butter cookies?

Tin = can ...... like Baked Beans comes in. [I take it you have Baked Beans over there?]

Though the pet food problem extends to dried foods, dog rolls [the stuff you buy out of the chiller]as well as canned stuff.

What I can't understand is how companies ~ and the people that run them ~ can be so immoral as to include garbage, shit and cats and dogs as ingredients in pet food.

Easy - it's the same thing that takes a young politician with big dreams and turns him/her into an asshole who only cares about his/her pocketbook. Or the realtor that wanted to make his community better that ends up becoming a slum lord. It's $, and I guess it's powerful? I don't get it.

Chiller! That's cool - I just wondered about the tin. The difference in usage of the same language just interests me! Wasn't being the dumb American "Whud you say? HUH? Speak American." LOL.

This is so rude and gross. At first I thought my felix was safe with his meow mix but canned or dry is the same.
He eats pasta and pizza and cheese and crackers and tomatoes, myabe I should stick to that plus some ground beef.

Jes.......I think at some point that person must make a choice to head down the pathway towards selfishness and profit worship. Money can't make people evil, they have to make that decision for themselves.

The language thing is funny, huh? Its easy to be misunderstood even when we are speaking in the same language, just because of the cultural differences.

Gren....fresh meat and fish is really good for your kitty! And I've heard that one day a week fast, is good [and normal] for a meat eater. I priced up some organic dried cat food, and it was about 5 times the price of the normal stuff. Wicked.

Speaking of food, why is it so much CHEAPER to eat badly???? Fresh vegatables are pretty pricey! Good tomatos are over $3 a pound! You can make a nice tomato salad to go with your dinner, or you can save almost $1 and feed them chips. If you're at the store and need something to tide you over for a few hours, a bag of carots is $1.50, while a candy bar is 50 cents. It's sick!
