Subject: Legends
I'm posting this now in hopes it will force me to post the full story later...
I spent the weekend in AC. Saw Heart/AIC on Friday night, then NIN on saturday night.
There are stories, there are pictures, there are gods, there was NO sleep, there was the ocean..
This weekend ranks up there with my Seattle trip as one of the best times I've had.

Yeah, let's hear about those gods.
Which ones choose to live in Atlantic City?
Bacchus? Kali?
Some of the more interesting ones, that's for sure....
I'm going to Vegas in a month. Hopefully the poker gods will be watching over my shoulder.
Iymlad - any suggestions for a working to get them on my side?

Oh man...this I GOTTA hear/see. Bring it on, Leo!!!
I heard something on the radio today about Phil Anselmo sharing singing duties with Jerry?!? Anybody hear anything at all about that?
23...definitely check out the Hard Rock Hotel while you're in Vegas! It's sooooooooooooooooo very metal...you'll love it : ) Also, if you can, try to catch a concert at the Joint. It's a great venue!
Later,
Laurie

Re: Legends -- Leo, 18:40:07 03/15/06 Wed [1]
Alright, this is gonna have to be the condensed version or else I'll never get it out.....
Laur, Phil was there! I was so excited when Jerry introduced him, he said something like "this is a guy we have a lot of respect for..." and i was all "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah". Afterwards Phil was hanging out at the side of the stage, I told him he rocked and he squoze my hand. I'm wondering if the songs Phil sang are going to be on TV, since the man can't help but use profanities, lol.
ok back up to the beginning. I have to set the stage. It was a beautiful weekend so I was all excited for friends, music, and water. For me there is nothing better. I crave the ocean at this time of year so the location totally heightened my experience.
U4ria and I picked up our tickets from the box office. Row 13 - my lucky number! We met up with friends, ventured out to the beach and had some drinks before the show. When we were entering the venue, the guy scans my ticket and it was bleeping. He tells us to go back to the box office, something is wrong. I was nervous because it was close to show time. It turns out someone made a mistake - so it was rectified by offering us pit tickets!! We get inside and the pit turns out to be nothing more that the size of the usual barricade between the band and the GA section. It was unbelievable. I stood at Jerry's feet the entire AIC show.
and now i'm outta time, more later, and I haven't forgotten about the gods, both musical and otherwise...

Re: Legends -- taurus, 23:26:28 03/16/06 Thu [1]
I didn't know where to put this.
ALICE IN CHAINS Frontman's Biography 'Angry Chair' is Back In Print - Mar. 16, 2006
ARTS Publications has announced plans to run a new reprint of the biography of late ALICE IN CHAINS frontman Layne Staley, titled "Layne Staley: Angry Chair" (more information), courtesy of Xanadu Enterprises Inc.
According to a press release, journalist-author Adriana Rubio has received a number of e-mails, correspondences and phone calls from Layne's fans lately asking for "Angry Chair" copies at a more reasonable price, since this title is out of print and "used" copies are being sold by a big number of online booksellers, who are NOT connected with the author neither the publisher, for over $100, $180 and even for $400.
Layne Staley died in April 2002. He was once on top of the music world as the lead singer for ALICE IN CHAINS and MAD SEASON. "Layne Staley: Angry Chair" is filled with exclusive interviews with his mother, Nancy, his sister, Liz, and Layne himself…as he broke his five-year public silence just months before his death. The book also includes pictures from Layne's childhood, drawings, poetry and a lot more.
Adriana Rubio was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is a member of "The Latin American Journalists Federation" (FELAP) and also of "The Union Press Workers of Buenos Aires" (UTPBA).
Rubio is an investigative journalist and has published three books in the United States: "Dave Mustaine: Are you Ready to Take the Risk?" (Vantage Press), "Layne Staley: Angry Chair" (Xanadu Enterprises) and "Jim Morrison Ceremony" (ARTS Publications).

Re: Legends -- Leo, 08:14:52 03/21/06 Tue [1]
I knew I wouldn't get back to this, so here's the most important part:
After the show I met Sean Kinney. The man was great, for some reason he decided to talk to me about AIC's future. I was reeling. He told me this tour was for Layne and the fans, he sounded hopeful about a future band, with a new singer, but it would not be called Alice In Chains. He commmented about Audioslave, saying that it doesn't matter what the name of the band is, everyone knows who the guys are. At the end of the conversation, he was bowing to me, lol. I will post a pic once I get my computer back.
for Chico - they played Would and Them Bones (twice each!), Angry Chair, and then Rooster later on in the set with Heart. The guys also did Black Dog and Misty Mountain Hop with Heart and Dave Navarro.
for Iym and twan - this is a description of the place where the after parties were held and where I met Sean, etc. :
Members who are seeking a more intimate space within the Atlantic City Foundation Room, may retire to one of four Prayer Rooms. The Shiva and Buddha rooms feature Asian artifacts and statues with hand-carved wall mountings and doors. The Ganesh room features a Hindu alter to the Elephant-headed God and East Indian artifacts. The Oba room is the first African-styled Prayer room, and includes statues, ceremonial masks and walls adorned with mud-cloths from Mali.

Hmmm That's interesting about what Sean said about AS! I wonder what he means by it, you can change your name but, you can't change who you are and why people know you....perhaps. I'm going to be thinking about that.
I'm glad you had a blast!
Sean Kinney is a babe, I'm not diigging the full beard that I've seen in pics lately though.

Sean is handsome, beard or no beard.
Tg - I take it he meant, that it doesn't matter what name they choose for a new band, people will know who they are. I also told him, that they will still sound like the same guys too.
one of these years, i'll post the pics....

Leo, if you can't get your pic up send it to me and I'll post it.
Maybe reduce the file size of the pic too. (lower the resolution/pic size). It's better for the forum that way, anyhow.
