I'm a bit worse than Simon. for one, my opinion is that none of these bitches can "sing". Sure, they can hit all of the silly ghetto vox acrobatic bullshit, but I've yet to hear any of them emote and actually sell a song, or themselves.

I think that they should have a night where everyone has to rock a Luther Vandross song, and if they fuck it up with that yodel lay hee hoo 20,000 notes a minute bullshit, they have to do horse porn with Arseneo Hall to stay alive in the competition.

In short, they all suck. I watch it because it makes me feel a bitb etter about myself. Although I'm a zero and will probably never amount to anything as a musician, I could fuck all 20 of them up on the mic...and that keeps me somewhat sane.

and on the other hand...

if the teacher said "democracy is wonderful," or "democracy and human rights go hand in hand," no one would have blinked an eye. i remember learning that stuff in school, and that's not any more or less opinion than this guy. and it'd probably be less based in actual historical fact. as long as they toot the "america is good, democracy is good, our government is good," horn they're pretty much off the hook. if they teach facts that make america look bad, like the bombing of dresden for example, that teacher wouldn't be too popular. i think you're right that there should be facts rather than just a teacher throwing out opinions, so maybe the teacher could have given examples rather than using those broad statements.

but why would critical thought be left to college? we definitely had lots of critical thought exercises in high school, as far as world history, us history and current events. think there was even some of that in middle school. i'd vote for starting to form and change and develop opinions and critical thought early on. i don't see why that should be taken out of hs.

lol and you should've seen my political science textbook for college, it was atrocious, it was like the sunny side up version or something, because it always said things like, "america used to have these problems but through all three branches of govt they were quickly solved." yeah it didn't take long before i stopped reading that book. i think even a high schooler could see through the sugar coating on that one.
