Subject: Mardi Gras Ideas

As I've already reminded everyone who wouldn't think about it otherwise, Mardi Gras is next Tuesday the 28th. You can see pictures of the parades or watch the parades this next weekend and early next week at www.nola.com. Definately check out the Krewe of Barkus - definately one of my favorite parades. Oh yeah - and there's a pretty neat Mardi Gras radio channel on there too.

ANYHOW, I'm thinking about having people on Fat Tuesday, but these will likely be Moms and kids. I plan on making a big ol' king cake (complete with baby Jesus) and maybe mixing up non-alcholic margeritas and stuff so that no one puts their kid in their car after having real drinks and so the kids can enjoy it too. Any cute Mardi Gras party ideas?

Mardi Gras is my favorite short only of Halloween. To me, it is the most human of holidays. I think the entire country should get that 1 day off - and we should dance in the streets and specifically have at least 1 drink BEFORE noon! :)

Do you have a dollar store? My daughters b-day party is on saturday and I noticed they have Mardi-Gras bead necklaces.
Some kind of game would be fun and I would make up colouring pages off internet sites for the kids, or make your own bead necklaces for a kids craft. How about pancakes and lots of stuff to put on them.

Off Topic.
My daughters b-day party i burned a cd with Pink, Britney Spears, Hilary Duff etc. to pass out in there lootbags, I thought that was pretty original. I'm also having them make their own jewelry boxes and I found all the stuff at the dollar store.

Awww! Birthday parties can be so fun. It's one of the things that makes me wish I'd have had a girl! I was informed this year that we're having my son's party at the skate park! The last few years he's had the choice of an expensive party or presents, and he's chosen parties. We've done skating rinks (party cost $100)and laser tag (party was $125!). It'll be nice to have a freebie party at the skate park where I can actually buy stuff this year.

I think I'm gonna make a list of words that anytime someone uses, I get to throw beads at them. Like please or thank you.

Ewww - making I can do a murder mystery party! I've always wanted to do that. Hmmmm.....

Ideas welcome!

This is actually going to be the cheapest party so far. I was going to have a magician but I went to his website and he looked too creepy. LOL Last year I had a princess come over you know Belle from beauty and the beast and she was $150 My son had Spiderman one year. His b-day is in July so it's hard to get people in the summer. This year I'm having it before the end of the school year and it's going to be a 70's theme.

Here's a website for party themes and ideas. I'm sure there are tons more.

dude, i totally think you should do a murder mystery thing. i'm not even sure why but it seems so perfect for mardi gras. mystery and intrigue. i bet the moms and kids would love it too. you cold dress up as the different parts and everything, and then you get the whole "costume" part of it.

btw, i like your idea abotu how mardi gras should be celebrated. i don't have any plans really, that's too far in the future to know lol.

i will also say that the first time i ever puked from drinking was after a mardi gras. this guy stephen, kitchen boy i have sometimes called him, and i went to the bar and i was sitting there and i was like, i bet you i can finish mine faster than you. then we had to get more drinks to make sure we were actually even when we started...

i hope you get to do somethig decadent either before or after the moms and kids party! take that drink before noon!
