Subject: file-sharing programs for macs?

does anyone know of any? now that i have internet at home i'm really looking for something i can download music from, for free.

tried to get morpheus, and may still try, but can't seem to find anything that doesn't charge. i know it used to be free, but now even on downloaditfree.com (or something like that) they're asking me to sign up for monthly stuff.

i also tried to get dcc++ that leo uses but it seems they don't have anything for macs. also tried limewire and i think it was the same story.

any help would be clearly appreciated!

Most Mac users like Limewire. It's probably the largest source for files, but I've had problems with it acting buggy on my comps, both in Classic and OSX. I'm pretty sure it's offered for free, at least that's how I got them.

Right now I'm using a program called Xfactor, which offers a combination of a few different file-sharing programs (don't use fast-track-- full of decoys). I've never had a problem with it.

I believe both can be found on download.com in the Mac software section.

right on.

i didn't even remember that you also use a mac. for some reason i can't open the limewire thing for OSX. i've downloaded it a whole bunch of times, but every time i try to open it, it says it's not compatible w/my QuickTime Player or something like that....

maybe i will try their other OS thing, or Xfactor.

thanks!!!

going nuts over here...

i finally, from download.com was able to get a version of limewire that my comp could understand and install, but every time i go to open it, the application unexpectedly quits.

also tried xfactor and was able to install that, but then it didn't work, and now that i've restarted my comp, when i go to open it, nothing happens at all.

are there other options? i am not good at comp stuff, i need hand-holding, ste-by-step here...

Make sure you have the requirements for the version of Xfactor you downloaded.

Just today I got an update notice about their newest one, but my OS isn't the (required) latest, so I'm sticking to their older version.

Your post made me think of the Cochise verse

well I'm not a martyr
I'm not a prophet
and I won't preach to you
but heres a caution
you better understand
that I won't hold your hand
but if it helps you mend
then I won't stop it

and I realized I have no idea what the last lines could mean.

The general topic also reminded me-- Has anyone alerted dot.cc to this place?
