Subject: CC related and other thoughts

I think it was twan that posted that this place is on like page 15 or something of a search engine. If we truly want to keep it private, then that'd be easy by doing away with the CC name.

But on that note, I believe I'm going to make the first CC related thread other than the topic of the forum going down.....

I'm loving doing the Itunes shuffle during the work day, I need to load more of my stuff in there. Today I heard Wild Horses and it got me nostalgic for CC. I absolutely love when he sings in that lower register. The fact that he has(had) such a huge range and could flow almost effortlessly from low to high and back again, is amazing enough, but I always felt it deep inside when he went low. Lol, thats not what I meant!

Anyway, my point is that I don't even hear that anymore. Am I wrong? I hope so. I just had a wandering mind at work today and this is where it led me.

(and another aside, are we losing threads off the bottom of the board? )

We're not losing threads... we have just entered the realm of the archives. There's only a bit on Archive 1 so far, but *advance warning* we have only ten archive pages, so these posts won't last here forever. I believe past threads can be bumped up, so when time comes that anyone's sentimental favorite looks like it's about to fall into the black hole, you can fish it out of dangerous territory.

I saw that we were on Google's pg.15 for "Xhris Xornell forums" a few days before 23 mentioned it. (checking if my little keyword trick worked). I'm not worried about this place being flushed out from that. What was funny to me was the little text clip that was quoted in the listing the last time I looked:

"VoyForums: Unofficial Chris Cornell Forum
a forum for discussion related to Chris Cornell. ... refugees -- Chris's left
nostril, 08:04:37 01/17/06 Tue [7]. Re: refugees -- Testicleeze, 11:48:30 ...
www.voy.com/201330/ - 16k"

Hahaha! Of all the threads to grab from!!

Now for your real subject... I'm not sure what you're asking that you might be wrong about. Not feeling Chris's singing the way you used to? Or his singing itself? Or your hearing? ;)
In general... or just that song?

I love when SG songs come up in random play. I feel them just as much as I used to, and his voice still permeates my soul. But it always does cross my mind how emotionally in touch he is with those songs (and how absolutely great the music is), and how that's something I really don't get with his current work. My only change about the old stuff is how I feel when I hear him introducing songs in concert. Maybe that more reflects how my feelings about him as a person have changed.

I was thinking about this recently. Alight had mentioned that she would love for CC to cover Hendrix's "Angel" and I thought that would be perfect for him. I think Wild Horses would be good too.

What I was really thinking about more was how someone said I was not a CC fan anymore. I thought about it and I think I'm still a CC fan, I may not like AS but, I still think he's the best rock singer out there and his older stuff makes me feel the sameway. I'm still not certain he's better than he used to be. Eventhough he says he is, I think it's a put on.
Anyway, there's a Loud Love thread at the ASforum, and someone said it was done live and she likes the way it was arranged with AS better than SG. She even mentioned Chris said at the show that they always had a hard time with that song live. I thought that maybe he's had a few years to redo that song to know how to do that song live. I don't like the way some new fans feel they have to put down SG, that bugs me.

Oh I googled this place too, and I couldn't find it. That Chris's Left Nostril is hilarious.

ok, I see the archive link at the top of the page now. thanks, a light!

I'm gonna try to describe what I meant a little clearer - the word nostalgic keeps coming to mind, with each successive SG album and EM, his voice and the music had the same effect on me. Now, a big fat nothing. But I decided I miss the low end more than the high. those notes were the ones that I felt all the way to my core. Today I listened to DOTU (and realized that its 10 years old already!), and it still has the same effect on me as it always has. At first listening made me sad, but I got over that.

When I hear the SG songs done by AS in concert, I physically fight with myself. My insides are screaming "noooooooooooo", but my ears and body can't help but listen and eventually enjoy it for whats it worth.

TG - I agree with you in that I still consider myself a CC fan. I don't know what I'd call myself in regards to AS. I have their records and some boots too. However, I don't listen to them, but will see them in concert, without fail.

Oh, and Wild Horses was a cover CC did w/ Anne and Nancy Wilson, aka the Lovemongers. I don't know what year it was, but its awesome.

~~~Oh, I never heard it. I've heard Battle Of Evermore, I had no idea that was the Wilson's.
Oh and I also know what your saying with Chris his voice always set the mood of the song. He could always manage to tell a story (for lack of a better word) with the vocals. A song that comes to mind is Mailman, very moody,it matches the music very well.
Sorry that I went so off topic there.
Ohhhhh, tg, the version of Wild Horses with the Wilson sister's gives me chills......he does that very well.
I think someone told me it was recorded in the early 90's. Soundgarden at the time was touring with Guns n' roses at the time. That is what they say when they are introducing them anyway. Wierd, I just listened to that song for the first time in months, yesterday.
I know what your saying about the story thing. Head Down comes to mind, how his voice would just become one and syncopate with the music.
