You keep mentioning deduction, where would the orrignal $ come from to deduct and what are you deducting it from? A 501(c) 3 is a busieness, you'd need start up $ in a biz acct to orriginally pay for travel, costumes, etc, and then the $ that you make/fundraise would go back into the biz acct. the only advatage I see is the ability to apply for certian funding. It is alot of work to maintain it -- you have to have very good records and (generally) get permits for fundraising etc.
