I can't blame him at all for moving on. And I would guess he will make some excellent independent films along the way.

He is a brillant filmmaker and has had a major impact on Hollywood. I feel lucky that I got to see some of his films in theaters when they were first released, including American Graffiti, Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back.

Star Wars (1977) and The Empire Strikes Back (1980) remain my favorites of the Star Wars franchise to this day. Return of the Jedi (1983) is great too, but the first two are at the top of my Lucas list.
