I'll give the 1977 film an A. It broke new ground and boosted the science fiction movie world when things were getting stale. The first Star Wars introduced us to dazzling special effects, which still hold up, an action packed story... like Flash Gordon in many ways, but this being the alternative work brilliant George Lucas brought to us, along with a fine cast. I waited quite a while before being able to see it in a theater back then.

I'll give the second film, 1980s The Empire Strikes Back a B, though it might have been more exciting and interesting than the earlier work. I may be torn in a way by not giving this one the A, but...I still cannot forget those openers and various action sequences from the first film of 1977.

I'll give the third film, 1983s Return of the Jedi, a C. Oh, it was still good...but the fuzzy little ewoks to me were ..fluff? (pun intended) and moreso for a younger audience.

Well, I still liked 'em all in the trilogy. A couple remarks...I still prefer the original theatrical release versions over the various re-releases of the trilogy that came out over the years. Also, seems I never became interested in the later sequels without the original cast members. Not that they were bad, or good...my interests had simply changed.
