Thanks Sergeant Tim....that was cool, really. You certainly can dig out some gems, and it's rumored our Emperor Ming may promote you to Master Sergeant, though it may take awhile. Always lots of Ming tape involved.

I did lots of travelling in the 70s, and the attire worn by people on that DC-10 was pretty much on the nose, but I don't recall passengers being so jolly or having so much fun. Well, it's a commercial....and it was indeed neat seeing Buster Crabbe watching and commenting on an in- flight film of Flash Gordon. Never saw that one. Very cleverly done : )

A promotion to Master Sergeant would be big step up, I would finally be ahead of that Sergeant Time!

It is a great clip, I had no idea that classic serials were shown on some flights back in the 1970s.

It's interesting that Buster Crabbe wears what looks like a Captain Marvel uniform.

The airline spokesman in the commercial is Nicholas Hammond, who played Spider-Man in the late 1970s television series.

I never saw serials on a plane then, but companies I worked for booked coach, not first class. I recall several DC-10 flights, a jetliner great for shorter airport runways with larger wing area but a bit more sensitive to wind. Perhaps coach flyers did not consider travel so much fun.

That is however a great clip Sgt. Tim, and maybe someone who knows about first class on that plane might let us know if serials were indeed played. For me in coach, I recall paying $2.50 for headphone use to hear an in-flight movie or listen to closed circuit audio. I do not recall serials or newsreals.

Yes that does look like a Capt. Marvel uniform of sorts that BC is wearing. The lady passenger beside him resembles Priscilla Presley a bit. Overall, a great commercial, and the attire and hairdo styles were right in tune with the times.

FYI, I am trying to get feedback/recommendations from either Commander Rick or the High Priest as to possible promotion for you. If you're not aware of it, Article 1936/38-40 of Ming's Code stipulates that you must do one of the following to be considered: a) Construct a quiz based on Sec.1936 of moderate difficulty, ten questions, or b)translate what was said as Dr. Zarkov was addressing the Rock King...the more, the better. Think it over, and let us know when time permits. A new improved bobble head is included with every promotion, a nicely embroidered upscale patch, and a certificate suitable for framing.
