I also saw that as a feature length film in a theater. I'm sure prior years of Star Wars gave this BR film a boost as it did others that followed.

Not far later in 1979, a TV network aired the movie...would imagine this was considered the pilot in a way. Soon, new adventures were aired. The show ran for two seasons...in 1979 and 1980.

As I recall, some parental groups objected to the violence and racy material for TV of the first season. I think a letter writing/call-in campaign was involved ...don't recall details, but there was a very toned down second season in 1980 with a Hawkman character involved. The show seemed more wholesome. Perhaps many preferred hotter material... there was no third season.

Buster Crabbe appeared in a two-parter during the first season I believe. He played a fighter pilot brought out of retirement since the hidden city was in danger. In a dogfight, he saved Buck's life...and there was an interesting play on words between the two men. I enjoyed this show.
