This was first VHS prerecorded tape I bought. Was $40 then, a hefty sum at the time for 89 minutes worth, but things were better back then. I was elated...first video item of FG. Not much else was around like 20+ years ago to buy, but one could rent a 16mm sound projector and FG films IF a photo shop had 'em, and you were willing to lug the stuff.

Since then, I've obtained movie versions from dollar stores(serials too), a tinted version from a serial group (with comments) but sadly made from a lousy fuzzy print.. yet cost much more than a buck, and I've come across many nostalgia tapes recorded at speeds lower than SP.(LP or EP)

The Rocketship movie is better than many other feature versions of serials, in my opinion. There's also some different music, and you'll notice more from Tim Tyler's Luck , I think Red Barry, maybe Ace Drummond, others also. Don't recall. It's decent though, but don't go overboard moneywise. I've found nice dvds for a buck or two...some with goofy or wrong artwork on boxes, but usually, discs fine overall. Sometimes a tad of overscan, but if you're not too critical, it'll be ok.

As for favorite moments, well guess we've got all our essential FG characters, including Dale Arden with Jean Rogers, Princess Aura, Barin (R. Alexander) Ming, Vultan etc, but in a more abbreviated format.(All favorites.) If I haven't watched FG serial in awhile, and need an FG fix of sorts, I'll take in that hour and a half movie version sometimes. Hmm...lots of snow out there, maybe now's a good time.
