Subject: 33 years ago: Star Wars (1977)

The first film in the trilogy by George Lucas and his team. He initially wanted to remake 'Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe.' That deal fell through and he did it in an original way and it revived a sagging film industry. Harrison Ford summed it up best, by saying years later, he knew it would work, where no one else did.

I remember the news stories about people standing in long lines. I don't recall standing in line when I saw it in May or June of 1977, but every single seat was filled when the lights went down and the movie started. I still remember the audience standing up and applauding when the Death Star exploded.
