Sergeant Time....absence pass
Allow this to serve as an Absence Pass for Sergeant Tim. He has been ordered by Toran to spend a week on Mongo for... ahem, retraining in some areas. Emperor Ming does not like to overrule King Toran, so this week-long visit may indeed materialize. Details may be found on a discussion section a few items back, concerning Ming's genius status. Correction...Should be absence pass to Sergeant Tim. (Not time, but we could of course extend it beyond a week if need be.) Oh, I may have to add another Forest Kingdom soldier on board...he needs dental work, and counseling regarding objects called a camera in conjunction with destruction of idol at temple of Kalu.

Sergeant Tim reporting here, I was delayed for a day and am just now learning of my impending trip to Mongo.
Wondering if earplugs might be available for Day 4 of the ordeal? Strictly for the sound of the gong, mind you, no slight intended at the high priest's cackling or lecturing, he is always...interesting.
It's gonna be a long week, heh.

No backtalk is permitted. You have your orders and ample time to prepare. You have the weekend to straighten your affairs and will depart this Monday. Be warned that wisecracks are frowned upon, and your posting above nearly doubled your time, but Officer Torch spoke kindly of you, but beware....you will be watched carefully, (but on the Day 1 assignment, whew, you're by yourself)....though a televisor will be monitoring you. No earplugs for Day 4, since the High Priest, at his whim, randomly strikes the gong between cackling and lecturing...hence, you would offend him by wearing such a contraption while he is doing so. I'd venture a guess the lateral movements are roughly 5 inches maximum decreasing with time, and the frequency is roughly 18Hz, well above the point of human disintegration, so not to worry. Oh, the shovel is large and a bit heavy. However, this should buff you up satisfactorily for solo feeding of radium to Vultan's atom furnaces. Have a nice day. Stifles the backtalk, nixes the wisecracks, and starts packing for Mongo (making sure to leave Happy's camera behind on Mars). The Sarge accepts the fact that day one in the tunnel of terror will clear his sinuses for weeks. He also withdraws his earlier request for a blindfold during Vultan's shadow puppet show. It's likely imprudent to wear a blindfold with Orso around anyway, especially if honey is on the Sky City menu for the day.

This is King Vultan....I was told to expect you for a couple days for some work in my sky city prison, and had an easier second day for you as an entertainment break. Blindfold, huh? Well, we might have to alter plans. Thought you were asking for earplugs during your gong polishing day with the high priest. Seems you may be upsetting several leaders in the various kingdoms of Mongo and Mars. Toran has been informed of this, and Emperor Ming has picked up transmissions from the Forest man signalling from a tree on Mars. Aye, my troubles seem to grow faster than Thun's beard! Such is the lot of a mere Sergeant in this universe run by Emperors and Kings. And after I spent so much time painting a "No Photos, Please" placard to place at the shrine of the mighty Kalu.
Alas, I am about ready to depart for Mongo, having packed my lase....errr, I mean shovel, for working in the tunnel of terror. By the way, there is something strange about that Gocko, that's the word that comes to mind, but I can't quite place what it is.

King Thun here Tim...I did not think kindly of remark re fast beard growth. Too bad..... I planned to get you anti-dizziness potion our gyroship pilots use, but now....you're on your own. My!... you seem to be getting in trouble with leaders of the various kingdoms often. We will look forward to your comments in a week or so as to changes made in your itinerary.
Regarding the Gocko, think you already might have been subjected to some incense or drops of forgetfulness. Be assured however that the Gocko will place whatever it is for you, kind of automatically at random. Oh...sometimes the supply officer on Mars will give a flimsy plastic shovel(instead of metal)often not discovered until later when forgetfulness wears off, and you're on the job.

Hey, is it day one, two or three? Traveling between Earth, Mars and Mongo I get confused by the time/space warp continuum rocketship-lag effect. Any frequent flier miles available for enlisted men?
All that time spent underwater checking for corrosion in Kala's kingdom is bound to give me pruny fingers. Still, there is that octosac buffet to look forward to. Anything to get rid of the snorkel taste. Dinner for eight, anyone?
