Subject: Time on Mongo

Well, summer is here so it's time to once again view FG. The choice this time was "Universe", to be viewed as I worked out on my astro-treadmill.

There is always something to be learned upon reviewing the sacred FG serials and this time was no exception. Perhaps the knowledgeable members of this Forum can help me in my distress with the following issue.

When Zarkov is chained and about to be executed by the ray from Ming's fiendish clock, we are told that when the hands strike eleven o'clock the ray will start. The hands eventually move to eleven and the ray begins its path of doom.

However, when Captain Suden opens the door at midnight to allow Flash and his party to enter, the clock shows 6:30 in our mere earthbound timekeeping. Ming's clock is like our own; Captain Suden's clock is different. Furthermore, the hands on Captain Suden's clock never seems to move. Is there some other way that it keeps time?

Are there different timekeeping systems within Ming's palace or are these further tricks that are meant to confuse us? Your help is earnestly solicited!
