It's definitely being filmed right now in Canada and in agreement with Sci-Fi Channel for July premiere. I'll post more results...

Given how Sommers screwed up Van Helsing, I'm rather glad the planned feature fell into the void. If these folks can do Flash well as a series (not serial), it should be fun. I do not care who's in it -- let's face it, the cast of the serials was basically unknown (and singularly untalented). I hope it has the same tongue-in-cheek self-amusement of the first serial, though -- or it could get really ponderous. I also hope they do not "reinvent" Flash except, perhaps, to bring him into the current age.

Middleton and Lorch were talented actors. I thought the younger actors didn't have to be exceptionally great. It worked.

The Flash Gordon remake ( Sommers and Universal ) is set for release in 2008 the last time I checked. Currently in development is all I know. The TV series ( non-Sommers related ) would be able to do more and on a weekely basis. We'll find out.

I've checked around my sources, such as they are, and the Sommers FG appears to have fallen into development hell, perhaps never to return. I think TV/cable is a better medium anyway -- it's more like the way original serials were intended to be shown. We shall see.

To whomever posted that Middleton and Lorch were good actors -- huh? Middleton was always the same character in every movie, whether playing Ming or Lincoln. And Lorch was always this side of invisible, outside of FG.

I ( Rick ) said Middleton and Lorch were talented character actors. Charlie had excellent diction in his dialogue delivery, which he could recite very fast at times. Go ahead, try it and see if you don't blow the lines. Both men specialized in playing the heavies well.

You can do more with a TV series than a movie, that's for sure.

C'mon -- diction does not equate to acting. I thought the guy was terrific but Middleton was a below "C" level actor at best. Fun as all heck but that's about it. And he was one of the great scenery chewers in the history of the movies. Lorch -- a non-factor and a non-actor.
