Subject: Poll: Favorite moments with Officer Torch

I think some of the most memorable scenes in the films are with Torch. Wouldn't have been the same without him.

Well..we've got a couple of Torches...Me, Officer Torch, (aka Tin Man?) all armored up..basically Ming's trusted officer and essential right hand man (more or less) in the '36 serial. Actually, Officer Torch was the FIRST Mongonian to communicate with the the earthlings! He always seems to be an in-charge level headed type of officer/soldier and kind of on the serious side.

Some favorite moments? (Winging it here.) Hmm..maybe, first meeting with earthlings, also trying to tell Ming that King Kala's underwater kingdom appears (on televisor) to be breaking apart. Ming dismisses him, and later reprimands him for not truly advising him...and then I say..."....but your majesty.." yadda, yadda etc. I also recall FG returning back to being visible whilst choking me in the lab. I ordered our guards to "stop them" as best as I could.

Now, little known fact (well, not really), one of my younger cousins, later rose to the rank of Captain ('40 CTU serial)...Captain Torch, of course. He also became a right hand man of Emperor Ming. Sadly, Captain Torch had some tense times with His Majesty, and experienced some indignities. EG, I recall Ming calling him (and others) a fool, and he was often threatened about his life being forfeit. Oh..the indignity?>> Capt. Torch disguised himself as an Arborian guard and entered Barin's radio room. His appearance with that small winged helmet and uniform did not particularly match his robust physique, and when he dropped his ray gun and slipped away, some of Barins's aids were said to have chuckled!

Be that as it may, true or false, both Torch soldiers were entertaining, fun, and often took the brunt of Ming's snarling, especially Capt. Torch. Overall, both actors played their bad guy parts well. Comments?

Officer Torch and Captain Torch were loyal servants or our fiendish but beloved Emperor, worthy allies in evildoing in their own right.

From his accent I have always assumed that Captain Torch must have been recruited somewhere in Brooklyn and probably started his sinister career stealing cars, knocking over liquor stores or running a bookmaking enterprise. He is the only one who ever addresses Flash as simply "Gordon", a holdover from his petty larceny days and time spent behind bars.

Paired up with Sonja they make a Mongovian crime team of the first order. Long may they terrorize the Universe!
