(He frowned as he heard her voice, looking up from where he was sitting on the end of the bed with the photos of Haylie, hastily stowing them in his bag before clearing his throat.) Yeah.. ? (His eyes were the same muted shade of green, the light had just gone out of him and the word he had just spoken had been the first easy word out of him for four days.)
