When she asked him if he had anything to say to Haylie, he felt a bitterness rise up in him that had him looking away for a long moment.. if she couldn't bother to talk to him then why should he talk to her? He didn't want to be the needy one out of the two of them, though it was really bothering him that she hadn't called him.) Did she say anything about me when she called? (He asked in a quiet tone, he might be behaving childishly, but he felt betrayed by her.)

"I told her you seemed pretty upset...I didn't mention the part about you being drunk." She didn't think Haylie needed to hear that instead of being with her at the church he was in a bar with a bunch of girls getting drunk. "She was still pretty upset when she called, sounded like she was crying again...going on this mission could be a good thing, get her to clear her mind...you know how she focuses on work.." Haylie would throw herself into whatever assignment she had and focus totally on that, probably neglecting eating properly and getting the right amount of sleep but at least she wouldn't be crying herself sick.
